BIOGRAPHY

International Soprano Imara Thomas was born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She grew up in a musically gifted family, with roots from Aruba. Imara studied Opera at the Academy of Music in Maastricht. Studied with Roberta Alexander and Brian Masuda in Amsterdam privately.

Singing at the Royal Concertgebouw was a dream come true. Just like singing before the Dutch Princess Laurentien.

As a young singer she had her first debut on TV performance at the age of 10 and sang at the Doelen Concertgebouw at the age of 12 with the Amsterdam Promenade Orchestra under the baton of Jan Stolk.

In 2016 Imara performed the classical song (debut) ´Atardi´ from Jacobo Palm (Curaçao) on National Dutch TV, in 2018 at The Voice of Holland and All Together Now on National Dutch TV. In 2022 Imara a concert at Museum van Loon with pianist Ernst Paul Fuchs. The concert was like Imara´s story in music.

At the Concertgebouw she sang Gershwin´s ´Summertime´ from Porgy and Bess. It was also broadcasted on national Dutch TV. December 2023 Imara sang ´O mio babbino caro´ by Puccini on Dutch TV on SBS6. The audience showed their appreciation with a standing ovation and the judges expressed how Imara´s voice touched their hearts and even had dropped a few tears.

Imara was seen by millions of viewers on TV and online even if they never have been to the Opera, Imara brings Opera and more to the audience and they fall in love with her voice instantly!

In Germany Imara gained many years of experience in the Opera at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Stadttheater Bremerhaven.

In The Netherlands Imara performs a wide range of repertoire for lyric coloratura be it Opera or classical Lieder. She enjoys where vulnarability and passion meets in the music. Concert halls like The Royal Concertgebouw is a favorite for Imara´s voice, it´s sublime acoustic and history, but feels like home.
